Before I was an entrepreneur or even a college graduate, I was a young girl from a small Michigan town just trying to figure out my way. Back then, I decided college was the way to go because it seemed like that was the route the successful people I knew chose.Â
So I went to college, ended up with a Master’s degree, and worked in the corporate world. However, before long, I realized I wasn’t really happy. Although I was passionate about what I studied in college and felt great about helping others, me and the corporate world didn’t mesh.Â
I didn’t like asking for time off and being potentially told no. I felt unheard and uncared for when I was sick but was demanded to come in anyway because “they needed to see me.” I couldn’t stand having a cap on my income and settling for 1-2 percent annual raise increases. I felt angry when my grandmother was ill, and they wanted me to physically stay at work…even though I was willing to work virtually from the hospital she was at.Â
I realized that what I needed was choices. I needed freedom. Time & financial freedom.Â
So I became a corporate dropout, and I don’t regret it one bit.Â
